Pool Homes in Phoenix: Plaster Vs Pebble Tec ®

∞ Standard pool plaster

Pros:

• Most well known style of pool surfacing for pool homes in Phoenix since the 1960’s with many improvements over the years.
• Smoother surface during contact with swimmers.
• Less expensive compared to Pebble Tec®.

Cons:

• Highly susceptible to discoloring, staining, and harboring bacteria due to the porous nature of the material.
• Requires much more chemicals and maintenance to avoid staining, maintain a balanced water chemistry, and prevent discoloring.
• Less durable for pool homes in Phoenix.
• 6-8 year life span before replastering.

∞ Pebble Tec ®

Pros:

• Highest quality pool resurfacing material available for pool homes in Phoenix due to its longevity and ability to hide chemical residue.
• Extremely durable. Pebble Tec® pool finishes can last from 15-20 years or more.
• Pebble Tec® is made from specially formulated cement blended with pebble aggregates. The pebbles make up the majority of what you see, and a Pebble Tec® surface actually looks like the bottom of a creek or a riverbed.

Cons:

• It’s a little rougher on your feet than plaster. If that’s a concern, you can check out Pebble Sheen® which is very similar to Pebble Tec® but has a duller surface.
• More expensive than plaster pool homes in Phoenix.
